Proudly serving Dover and the surrounding area for over 100 years.  Continuously since 1908, the Whitehouse name has meant quality eyeglasses dispensed in a friendly, competent setting by skilled opticians.  Both of our opticians hold degrees in Ophthalmic Dispensing from schools that are leaders in the optical industry.  This is a rarity in New Hampshire.  Both Vince and Chuck are certified by the American Board of Opticianry and are Registered New Hampshire Opticians.  What this means to you is over 60 years of experience working on your eyeglasses right now.

Our roots in Dover are deep.  We have and continue to provide quality eyeglasses with great pride at reasonable prices.  We are small, and we like it that way.  Because eyeglasses are custom-made for each client, economy of scale doesn’t work.  As a matter of fact our low overhead allows us to be extremely price competitive.  Plus we know our clients, and they know us.

OWNER VINCE VETTRAINO

Vince grew up in Michigan, closely tied to a family-owned business. He learned early the value of good customer service and treating clients as extended family. Being in Michigan, Vince also developed a love for hiking, fishing, kayaking, and golf. Bitten by wanderlust, he had a strong desire to see and live in other regions. So, in 1984 he moved to New Hampshire working in retail management. But something was missing. In Michigan, Vince had worked with handicapped children and he missed helping improve people’s lives. He enrolled in Ferris State University and graduated in 1995 at the top of his class. With his newly-earned degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing in hand, he returned to New Hampshire working as an optician in a busy optometric office. After honing his skills for 9 years there, he purchased Whitehouse Opticians in the summer of 2005.

OPTICIAN CHUCK CHENEY

A Dover native, Chuck started in the optical business in 1970 as a lab apprentice for Whitehouse Opticians. He graduated from Erie Community College in 1974 with a degree in Ophthalmic Dispensing. he is certified by the American Board of Opticianry and has been named a fellow in the National Academy of Opticianry. He joined the company full time in 1974 and has been here ever since. After 40 years, his hours are somewhat reduced, but he still enjoys the challenge of helping clients look great and see well. Outside of the office, Chuck has served the Dover community as Director of the Christmas Parade and has been a member of the Boy Scouts for over 50 years. He lives in Dover with his wife Debra and enjoys witnessing his three grown children prosper.

RECEPTIONIST Jennifer Orluk

Jennifer Came to Whitehouse Opticians in the summer of 2010. Before Joining us, Jennifer stayed home with her two girls Mia and Brooklyn and attends Granite State College, where she is working on her  B.S in Health care Management.
